Dear World,
Is it just me, or is reading, like, the best summer vacation ever?
There's is nothing quite like heading to a park, stretching out on the lawn, and getting lost in a delicious story under the shade of a tree.
I love reading. And the public library system. Big hugs and kisses to the wonderful person that first devised such a glorious system.
(Note: I tried to use my world wide web resources to see if I could discover the name of the person to whom I owe so much. Alas, I was unsuccessful. But, if you're interested in a brief history on public libraries, Wikipedia has got a doozy, which can be found HERE.)
I digress, what has this love of reading have to do with you, my nearest and dearest virtual friends?
Well, I recently posed a question on Facebook, asking what books had changed peoples lives, or what they would recommend. I have received some really great responses and I'm so excited to get started with the books that I have not yet read.
These are tried and true favorites. And though some of them may be outside of my typical selection, I look forward to diving in. Reading is such a personal experience, and I feel as though you can learn a lot about a person by experiencing their favorite literature. Besides that, reading is F-U-N. (And sometimes you learn things, but I won't mention that.)
So, without further ado, I give you THE list.
(** indicates books that were suggested multiple times.)
This list was given in no particular order; I simply wrote it in the order that it was given.
You may have already noticed, but I linked each book to Goodreads. There you can learn about the story-line and see reader reviews. Hopefully that'll be of some help as you select your next book.
Okay, now it's your turn. Please leave me a comment telling me your favorite books (or your thoughts on those that have been mentioned). I want all of the book recommendations that I can get!
I invite you to connect with me on Goodreads to learn about my favorite books. Not into Goodreads? No problemo. I'll soon be writing a post about the influential/enjoyable books in my life, so you'll be able to access that information from this very website.
Special thanks and shout-out to all those that have contributed to this list. I am so grateful for your input and can't wait to get reading!
If you'd like to have this list emailed to you, please leave your email address in the comments below.
I would like to submit my suggestion of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's the best. Also Making the Moose Out of Life. Who doesn't like a good children's book?
ReplyDeleteAlso. I like the changes you've made around here. :)
