Runner's Rant

Monday, 14 July 2014

So this one time (called today) I went on a run.
It's a beautiful day and I was feeling pretty good... at least during the first five miles.
But, wouldn't ya know it, the temperature outside continued to climb and I began to become very aware of how many clothes I was wearing. I also realized how incredibly thirsty I was and how I had not thought to bring any water. Once I started thinking about that, I imagined every horrible thing that could happen to me without water in this horrible heat. (Lucky for me, I have a pretty active imagination...)
Let's just say, I walked a good portion of the last two miles.
By the end I was seriously considering going into people's yards and laying under the sprinklers that had going. I even stared down a bird bath, contemplating the option of splashing that moisture on my face.
Moral of the story: How do you think people would respond to finding me laying in a puddle in their yard? I couldn't stop laughing about it during my run... but now that I'm home, it seems more and more plausible by the minute.

  1. I think people would respond favorably. Because the fact that they found you would mean they came outside and felt the oppressive heat beating down on them. I mean, they would probably join you in the sprinklers.

Also at the beginning of your post I imagined you running with your clothes being flung left and right. And it was funny. Except it wasn't. Because that would be indecent. But...

I think others would enjoy seeing you frolick through others' yard sprinklers on your run. :)
