Stars and Staples

Friday, 12 July 2013

Today I was brushing my hair and singing "God Bless the USA" (which was nothing out of the ordinary, of course) and I began to wonder....
What does it mean to 'thank your lucky stars'? Where did that saying come from?

According to Yahoo! Answers,
"It comes from a superstitious belief in astrology, that your life is determined by the alignment of the stars and that certain ones are lucky for you."

That answer had 100% votes, so it must be true. But does it mean something else to you? It just seemed like an odd expression to in a patriotic song.
When I was younger, I thought that the lucky stars were the stars on the flag... but I am beginning to think that might not be the case.

Thoughts? Wisdom? Feed my mind.

You see?
It's EVERYWHERE!

In other news,
I went an office supply store today. I am pretty sure I could spend half of my living there.
Not that I am a wealthy person... but it's an office supply store. And I'm in my twenties. I'm beginning to realize that might be a little weird. Nonetheless, it was a glorious experience.
I bought storage bins, filing folders, dividers.... anything that it really takes make a person happy (or maybe anything it takes to make a person organized).
And then... I had a thought.
If I were to marry a store, would it be this one?

Maybe.

One thing is for sure. If I were to marry a food establishment, it would be Jamba Juice.
And what a happy marriage that would be.

  1. Also the sayings that include "the Dickens"... faster than the Dickens... I know there's more (but I can't think of any right now), but honestly who or what are the dickens they refer to?
