I once had an English teacher give me very profound advise. And maybe some of you have heard of it, because-- to me-- it was that good. I tell everyone. His words of wisdom were thus:
Think about your thoughts.
And... your life has changed forever. Right? Am I right? Think about your thoughts!
Well, perhaps this requires a little explanation. This was at a time in which I considering switching my major- yet again. I was thinking that English would be a wonderful world for me, so I had a meeting with my teacher to discuss the matter with him. (It may have been as strange as it sounds.... but I felt like we were friends. Judge if you will, it's a free country.) He told me that the way that he decided to study English was by paying attention to what he often thought about. (Apparently he thinks a lot about the way that sentences are structured and the things that people say, etc.) And.... Ta-da! There was the answer to the deep question of his heart!
That sounded simple enough... But anyone that really knows me can probably attest to the fact that I have a million things going through my mind all at once.... and none of them make sense or are related. So though I had a vision of clouds parting when he offered his advice, I still had a bit of a journey ahead of me.
I won't bore you with the details of this journey. Let's be honest, college is a journey for everyone. Life is a journey for everyone. That's the beauty of it. Suffice it to say that I realized what I think about. I wonder a lot about what people really mean when they say things, and what words mean, and how people communicate.... etc, etc, etc. Thus, I have decided to title this blog "Lost in Communication" because, let's be honest, I totally am. Lost, that is.
So, there's the background story. I felt like it had to happen... so it just did. BOOM.
I saw something on Facebook today that I thought was brilliant/hilarious/____(You fill in the blank once you've seen it)_____.
Like I said, I think that communication is so interesting and the way that people interact with each other.
PRIME example:
What do you guys think? Is this funny, annoying, sad?
This made me wonder about the way that I interact with others. It also made me wonder if there are things like this that happen to me and how I react to those.
What are your thoughts?
To recap: Think about your thoughts. (You're welcome.)
That video was hilarious, but also sad. It definitely pays to really think before you speak.
