The One with the Hobbies

Tuesday, 23 September 2014

I have something to confess.

I.... I miss school. Judge me if you will. But I do miss it.
Well, okay, parts of it. I can't say that I've missed homework. Or those group projects that make you want to pull your hair out. But... all in all, the missing is there.

Now that I've graduated, moved and find myself in a (somewhat) new situation, I've been wanting to develop new talents and hobbies.

Today, I played my uke. Which will supposedly be the gateway for my new talent- the guitar. So after a few songs, I pulled out my tuner... and tuned the guitar. Little known fact- The guitar has more chords than a ukulele. It was such a tiring process, I decided I'd better save the strumming for another day.

I have been dabbling in a bit of hand-lettering as of late. (It's nothing fancy, so I don't know if it would actually be called "hand-lettering". A more correct way of phrasing it would probably be 'penmanship practice', kind of like how in junior high you'd practice signing your first name with the surname of your crush.) Tonight, I decided to get adventurous and try something really new.
I recently inherited my mom's calligraphy pens, so I figured I could whip up something real fancy.
Let me just tell you what the end result was-- I have black ink all over my skin. Apparently, this stuff is not a close sister to Crayola washable markers. Bummer. But it sure was fun.

Just as a side note: I have some ideas of things to feature on my blog, but as Ariel Mermaid once said "I want mooooore...". Therefore, I ventured to Google to find blogging ideas that require minimal time (and effort- Let's be honest.)

You guys, I'm dying. There are nuggets of genius out there, if you just know where to find them.

A few of my favorite suggestions:

-Criticize someone (Ummm... what? Really? This is a blogging suggestion?)
-Write a conspiracy theory. (Naturally.)
-Write down every thought that you've had throughout the day. (Encouraging simple-mindedness. You've never wanted to think so little.)
-Write about your regrets. (Nothing like an uplifting message, right?)
-Post a lie. (People just love being deceived.)
-Make a list of your bad habits. (You may not want to mention your blog on your Tinder account.)
-Ask a billionaire to write a post for you. (Of course. Why didn't I think of that?)

What are some of the funniest things that you've seen on blogs?
Also... Do you have a gold-mine of hobby that you'd like to see my try? Give me a shout-out and I'll write all about my experience.

  1. A - your calligraphy efforts are stellar. I'm jealous of that pen.
B - Write down every thought you've had - I've only ever done that for like, every thought that happens while I'm writing, but it's actually pretty fun. And rambly. ;)
C - New hobby. I'mma think on this and get back to you.
